Ans: 
Desert animals survive without water by conserving moisture, obtaining water from their food, and adapting physiologically to the harsh environment.


(ii)How do mongooses kill snakes? (6)
Ans: 
The mongoose is faster, cleverer and faster than snakes. While avoiding the attack of the snake, the mongoose dodges it and attacks it. The snake gets tired of doing this again and again. And the mongoose easily preys on it.


(iii)How does the hump of the camels help them to survive when there is no water? (9)
Ans:
When a camel lacks food, the fat present in its hump nourishes the camel. Their hump shrinks when fat is used up.

Question 1:
Imagine you are journeying through a desert. Write a couple of paragraphs describing what you see and hear.
Answer:
As I stepped out onto the sandy terrain of the desert, I saw vast expanses of barren land, with the occasional rocky outcrop and a few sparse plants clinging to life. The hot sun beat down on my skin and the dry air made me thirsty almost immediately.

As I walked further, I noticed the tracks of desert animals like lizards and snakes imprinted on the sand. The few birds that flew overhead cast long shadows on the ground. The desert reminded me of the beauty of simplicity and the resilience of nature.
